Silver Surfers at the Derek Fatchett CLC

Every Friday afternoon, learners aged up to 90 are developing their IT skills, building confidence and taking the fear out of using a computer at the Derek Fatchett City Learning Centre. This is delivered by Caring Together and Leeds Metropolitan University and is supported by staff from the CLC.

The 10 week course is designed to teach them how to write letters, surf the web, e-mail, shop online upload and edit photographs they have taken in the centre. At the end of the course each silver surfer will receive a certificate and some may even come back to the next course as a volunteer.

This course builds on the successes of last year’s course, where Hilary Benn presented certificates to last year’s successful surfers.
