The Derek Fatchett Centre has been celebrating winning second place in the North of England Education Conference 2012 Film Competition. Schools were asked to submit a 3 minute film that asked students how they saw the future of schools and education.
James from CMS Media presented the students with their High Definition video camera.
Ray Wilkes and five students from City of Leeds School worked with Chris Boylan from the Derek Fatchett Centre to create their film. They used drawings and animation to bring their ideas to life and filmed interviews to find out what young people’s vision of the future might hold.
The competition was judged by Nigel Richardson (Director of Children’s Services), Cllr Judith Blake (Chair of the Children’s Trust Board), Paul Napier (Editor, YEP), Joe Smith (Leeds Children’s Mayor), Garry O’Loughlin (Managing Director, CMS Media) and Simon Grayson (Manager, Leeds United).
