OCR Nationals in ICT virtually complete…

by Graham Ponton on June 28, 2010

During the week of 21-25th June, a group of 12 learners from Allerton Grange and Carr Manor School completed Unit 13: IT Systems and User Needs at the NE CLC.  Having planned the requirements of their machine for an Internet design company, they then installed an Operating System, relevant applications and configured their systems to meet the needs of the end user.

The machines were built in a virtual environment and all of their work was recorded on screen and edited to produce an video portfolio of evidence ready to be submitted.  It seemed a very popular method of evidencing and the learners really enjoyed and took ownership of their virtual machines and video portfolio.

Strong progress was made and a server based virtual solution that will be used for future IT Systems courses and units.
